The Full Picture
The Moon Cactus is a fascinating Frankenstein of the plant world. The brightly colored top (the Gymnocalycium) is a mutant that produces absolutely no chlorophyll, meaning it cannot photosynthesize or make its own food. To survive, it is grafted onto a green rootstock cactus (usually a Dragon Fruit vine). Because the green base is doing all the work, you must care for the rootstock: do not overwater it, and give it enough light to feed the neon top.
