The Full Picture

Hoyas are epiphyte succulents—they grow on trees in the wild and store water in their thick, waxy leaves. You must treat them like a cactus when watering: let the soil dry out entirely. The most important rule for Hoyas is about their flowers: they bloom from the same little woody spur (peduncle) every single year. NEVER cut off the little woody nubs left behind after the flowers drop, or you will never get flowers there again!
