The Full Picture

The Maidenhair Fern is the ultimate test of a plant parent. Its leaves are so thin they are almost translucent. This means they have zero ability to retain moisture. If the soil dries out completely for even a single day, the entire plant will shrivel up, turn brown, and die. The trick is keeping the soil constantly damp like a wrung-out sponge, but never letting it sit in a puddle of water (which will rot the roots). High ambient humidity is mandatory.
