October to February is the best season. Tomato, brinjal, chilli, fenugreek, coriander, and spinach all do well. Start tomato seedlings in August for a strong October planting.
Two productive windows exist: October–February (best) and August–September (post-monsoon). Summer (Apr–Jun) is too hot for most crops. Heat-tolerant okra and cluster beans can be grown May–July with shade protection.
Compost tea applied every 2 weeks provides well-rounded nutrition. Vermicompost is widely available in Indore and works excellently. Add bone meal for phosphorus to help flowering and fruiting crops.
Tulsi, curry leaf, and lemongrass grow year-round in Indore. Coriander and mint do best in winter (Nov–Feb). Basil grows from March to October. All herbs prefer morning sun and afternoon shade during peak summer.
