Prunus persica
Peach trees require a certain number of 'chill hours' (temperatures between 0-7°C) in winter to produce fruit. Dwarf/low-chill varieties are bred specifically for warmer climates and suit large containers.
Requires a specific winter chilling period (typically 100-300 chilling hours below 7 degrees Celsius for low-chill dwarf varieties suitable for Indian sub-tropical/hill regions). Highly sensitive to waterlogging during monsoons and extreme heatwaves above 40 degrees Celsius which can sunscald the bark.
