An indestructible, sun-loving succulent that rewards you with year-round red blooms.
Core care pillars at a glance
Crown of Thorns can cause irritation or illness if chewed or swallowed. Keep it out of reach of pets and small children.
The Crown of Thorns is technically a succulent, not a true cactus. It wants more water than a standard cactus, but much less than a regular houseplant. If it gets too dry, it will drop all its leaves to conserve water—but don't throw it out! Once you resume watering, it will grow them all back. Be extremely careful when pruning: it bleeds a thick, white latex sap that is highly toxic and irritating to the skin and eyes.
