The Full Picture
Vandas are extreme epiphytes. They are sold in slatted wooden or plastic baskets with zero potting medium. Their thick, fleshy roots hang freely in the air to absorb moisture. Because they have no bark or moss to hold water, they must be watered daily by soaking the roots in a bucket for 10 minutes or hosing them down until the roots turn from white to vibrant green.
