Irregular ragged holes appearing overnight point to caterpillars, slugs, or earwigs. Inspect with a torch after dark. Place a beer trap in a shallow dish for slugs. Handpick caterpillars. Spray Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) for caterpillar infestations — safe for humans and available in Indian garden shops.
