Why is my mint losing flavour?

Mint loses its essential oil concentration and flavour when it flowers. Pinch off any flower buds as soon as they appear. Old, woody stems also produce weaker flavour — rejuvenate by cutting the entire plant to 5 cm, allowing fresh growth. Overcrowded pots reduce flavour intensity; divide the plant and repot into fresh soil every 12 months. Harvest in the morning when essential oil content is highest. Partial shade in summer reduces heat stress and preserves flavour.
