In most of India that's the south side. Stand on the terrace at noon — the wall with no shadow at its base is it.

Tall, fruiting and sun-hungry pots. Keep the tallest plants on the north side of this band so they don't shade the rest.
Medium pots — herbs, chillies, dwarf varieties. Good for anything that wilts in peak afternoon sun.
Leafy greens, ferns, propagation trays, and your storage: bags of cocopeat, spare pots, watering can.
Keep this clear. You need it to carry filled pots, drag a hose, and reach every plant without stepping on the beds.
