How long does powdery mildew survive?

Powdery mildew spores (chasmothecia) survive on dead plant debris and soil for several months to a year. They germinate when temperature reaches 20–25°C with humidity above 70% — conditions common in Indian spring and early monsoon. Remove all infected plant material, sanitise pots, and apply sulphur-based spray preventively at the start of each season.
