How to get a second harvest from tomatoes?
Tomatoes can be ratoon-pruned (cut back) for a second flush. After the main harvest (February–March), cut stems back to 30–40 cm, leaving 2–3 leaves per stem. Feed immediately with balanced NPK. New growth appears in 2–3 weeks. The second flush produces smaller fruits but extends productivity to April–May. This works best with indeterminate varieties. Replace soil in the bag or add fresh compost on top before the second growth phase begins.
