Blossom end rot is caused by calcium deficiency or inconsistent watering. Water regularly to maintain uniform soil moisture. Apply calcium nitrate foliar spray (2 g/litre) or crush eggshells into the soil. Use deep pots and mulch to prevent moisture fluctuation in Indian summers.
