When to change potting mix in container garden?

Replace potting mix fully every 12–18 months for perennial plants (citrus, chilli, curry leaf). For annual vegetables, change the mix between each seasonal crop — approximately every 4–5 months. Signs of degraded mix: compacted surface, slow drainage, roots turning brown, and persistent yellowing despite fertilising.
