Why are my rose leaves pale green?

Pale green rose leaves indicate one of three deficiencies. General paleness (old leaves first): nitrogen deficiency — apply a balanced NPK feed. Pale new leaves with green veins: iron chlorosis — apply chelated iron spray. Yellow patches between leaf veins on older leaves: magnesium deficiency — spray Epsom salt solution (1 teaspoon per litre of water). In India's alkaline soils, iron and magnesium lockout are the most frequent causes. Acidify soil if pH exceeds 7.0.
