Excessive watering, especially when the soil doesn't dry out, leads to fungal growth and decay of roots and stems.
Immediately stop watering. Unpot the plant, prune away any black, mushy roots and affected stem parts with a sterile knife, then allow the plant to air dry for a few days before repotting in fresh, well-draining soil.
Water only when the soil is completely dry. Ensure pots have adequate drainage holes and use a well-draining succulent potting mix.
