How to grow bottle gourd on a terrace?

Bottle gourd (lauki) needs a large container — minimum 20 litres — and a strong overhead trellis. Sow 2 seeds per bag in February–March or June–July. Thin to one plant. Water generously every day once fruits form. Hand-pollinate by transferring pollen from male to female flowers with a soft brush. Harvest gourds young (30–35 cm) for best taste. One vine can yield 10–15 fruits per season.
