How to grow strawberries from runners?
After fruiting (March–April), mother plants send out long stems called runners with baby plantlets at the tips. Pin the plantlet to a small pot of moist soil beside the mother plant using a U-shaped wire. Keep moist. Roots form in 3–4 weeks. Sever the runner once the new plant is established. Plant out October–November for next winter's crop. Each mother plant typically produces 3–6 runners per season.
