Why is my carrot growing forked?
Forked carrots are caused by physical obstruction. The root tip hits a stone, clod, or dense soil and splits in two. Use fine, stone-free cocopeat-based mix — never use unscreened garden soil or fresh manure. Container must be at least 12 inches deep. Ensure no debris at the base. Sow thinly and thin to 2 inches after germination to prevent competition-induced forking. The carrot is safe to eat — shape does not affect flavour.
