Why is my coriander growing too tall?

Coriander bolts (sends up a tall flowering stem) when it senses lengthening days and rising temperatures — a signal to complete its lifecycle. This is inevitable in India from February onwards. To maximise leaf harvest: sow October–December, grow in partial shade from January, and harvest entire plants when 15–20 cm tall rather than waiting. Once the stem elongates, leaves become sparse. The resulting coriander seeds are usable in cooking — nothing is wasted.
