Why is my thyme dying in India?
Thyme is genuinely difficult in India — it is adapted to dry Mediterranean climates, not Indian monsoon conditions. Root rot during heavy rains is the primary killer. Ensure: a terracotta pot with coarse grit-heavy soil (50% grit minimum); covered placement during monsoon; watering only when completely dry. In North India, thyme survives October–April fairly well but struggles June–September. Treat it as an annual, replacing each October with fresh plants or cuttings.
