How to grow bitter gourd in pots?

Bitter gourd (karela) grows vigorously in 15–20 litre pots with full sun. Sow seeds February–March or June–July after nicking the seed coat for better germination. Train vines up a trellis. Water daily and feed with potassium-rich fertiliser once flowering begins. Hand-pollinate for higher fruit set. Harvest when skin is light green and ridges are prominent — overripe fruits turn orange and become bitter.
