Why is my French bean not producing pods?
French beans fail to pod in temperatures above 32°C — flower drop is the main cause in summer sowings. The ideal sowing window in North India is February–March or September–October. Other causes: excess nitrogen (lush leaves, no pods); insufficient phosphorus — apply 12:61:0 fertiliser; or sowing too densely (crowding reduces airflow and pollination). Beans are self-pollinating but benefit from gentle agitation of the plant in still-air terrace conditions.
